The APGA gubernatorial candidate for Taraba State in 2027, Hon. Danjuma Usman Shiddi, popularly known as Danji SS, has urged Nigerians to vote out bad leaders, saying it is the only way to entrench good governance and deter poor performance in public office.
Hon. Shiddi made the call on Monday in Abuja during an award ceremony organized by the Arewa Media Practitioners in his honour.
He said the electorate must use their votes wisely to reward performance and punish failure, adding that such action would serve as a deterrent and encourage upcoming politicians to embrace service delivery.
“If you collect money to compromise, you are not compromising just for you, you are compromising for the future of your children. But if you stand by the truth and vote good leaders, even whether you are alive or not, you will still have a better future,” he said.
The two-term former federal lawmaker representing Wukari/Ibi Federal Constituency in the 8th and 9th Assembly noted that Nigeria can only move forward when citizens refuse to return non-performing leaders to office.
He described the award as encouragement to do more for the development of Taraba State and Nigeria.
He pledged to run an all-inclusive government if elected governor in 2027.
Hon. Shiddi also urged politicians to emulate the nation-building legacies of late Ahmadu Bello, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, and Nnamdi Azikiwe, among others.
He encouraged young people to avoid the path of bad politicians and instead follow leaders who meant well for the country.
He dedicated the award to the people of Taraba State and reaffirmed his commitment to “rescue and transform” the state if elected.
Also speaking at the event, the APGA candidate for Taraba South Senatorial District, Hon. Afiniki Yarima, described the award as well-deserved, citing Danji SS’s track record even before joining politics.
She said she is contesting for the Senate to change the narrative in Southern Taraba and across the state.
“With the support of Hon. Danji SS as governor, I will become the Natasha of Taraba State by the will of God. As you all know, Natasha is there and if I don’t do more than what she has done in Kogi State, I don’t think I will do less by the grace of God,” she said.
Hon. Yarima promised to make her people proud and called on voters to vote wisely for the future of younger generations.
She also urged supporters to remain peaceful, saying “the era of rigging elections in Nigeria is over.”
The Arewa Media Practitioners said the award recognizes individuals from Northern Nigeria who have distinguished themselves in public service, human empowerment, and national development.

“Hon. Danji SS was one of the best lawmakers during his tenure. He was never a bench warmer. He sponsored bills and supported motions that made impact on Nigerians,” Comrade Muhammed said.
According to him, the APGA candidate’s track record, including scholarships, skills acquisition, promoting peace, and empowerment programmes, among others earned him the award.
He noted that such interventions were responsible for Hon. Shiddi’s electoral victories even as a member of an opposition party.
The Arewa Media President expressed optimism that Hon. Danji SS would win the 2027 governorship election in Taraba State based on his track records.
He urged other politicians to emulate his grassroots approach “for the progress of not only Taraba State but Nigeria as a whole.”
Responding, Hon. Danjuma Usman Shiddi described the award as a morale booster, saying he was not aware that his work was being monitored by a professional forum of journalists.
He highlighted some of his interventions as a federal lawmaker to include scholarships for over 200 Mass Communication students to NTA TV College, Jos, job placements, infrastructure, and various empowerment programmes that are still ongoing.
The APGA guber candidate described the media as “friends and partners in development” and pledged to sustain the relationship in promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance.
Hon. Shiddi dedicated the award to the people of Taraba State and promised to transform the state if elected governor in 2027.
Also present at the event was Hon. Afiniki Yarima, APGA candidate for Taraba South Senatorial District, who was part of Danji SS’s entourage.

Pass Resolution in Support of His Renewable Energy Initiatives
Dr Mustapha Abdullahi, the Director General of Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN has been commended for his unwavering support and developmental strides in Kogi State.
This is as the Kogi State House of Assembly has commended him for his contributions to renewable energy development, youth empowerment, education and other initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life of people across the state.
The commendation was contained in a resolution adopted by the Kogi State House of Assembly following deliberations during its plenary session on Thursday, August 6, 2026.
The resolution, identified as House Resolution 080 of the 8th Assembly (2026), followed the House’s consideration of the contributions of Dr. Abdullahi, particularly his role in facilitating the establishment of the Barefoot Renewable Energy College, Kogi State (BARECKS).
According to the House, Dr. Abdullahi’s efforts demonstrate strategic leadership and a commitment to using renewable energy and other interventions to create opportunities for people across Kogi State.
The Assembly specifically acknowledged initiatives associated with the Barefoot Renewable Energy College, empowerment opportunities for persons living with disabilities, financial support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), training in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), provision of laptops, scholarships for students at primary, secondary, tertiary and postgraduate levels, as well as the provision of solar-powered motorised boreholes.

….. The Former Nsipa Ceo Fighting To Clear Her Name
ABUJA – Eighteen months after her suspension as Chief Executive Officer of the National Social Investment Programme Agency, NSIPA, Hajia Halima Shehu says she remains a victim of a political witch-hunt despite finding no evidence against her.
WHO IS HALIMA SHEHU? A native of Katsina State, Hajia Halima holds a first degree in English Language and a second degree in International Law and Diplomacy.
A seasoned banker with experience across several departments and banks, she is described by associates as having “no record of dishonesty.” She also served as an ECOWAS election observer and coordinated a World Bank-sponsored financial inclusion program that enrolled 1.9 million beneficiaries.
During the 2023 elections, she headed President Bola Tinubu’s 774 LGAs rural mobilization team. On September 18, 2023, she was appointed CEO of NSIPA and confirmed by the Senate on October 18, 2023.
THE ALLEGATIONS SHE MADE Within three months in office, Halima said she conducted a “structural integrity and system test” of the agency and uncovered what she described as red flags:
N14 Billion allegedly transferred out of the agency’s TSA account without her knowledge.
New and “strange” signatories allegedly added to the agency’s CBN-authorized signatories without her consent.
“Huge, doubtful and questionable” spendings from the agency’s funds domiciled at the CBN.
She said she documented all findings with evidence and reported to the EFCC and ICPC.
THE COUNTER-ALLEGATION AND SUSPENSION Instead of commendation, Halima said she was counter-accused of approving the transfer of N44 Billion to private accounts.
She was suspended by President Bola Tinubu in January 2024 and placed under investigation. The EFCC reportedly grilled her “serially and severally.”
According to her, “till date, not a single Naira has been traced to or recovered from me or my friends/relatives in the hoaxed fraud coined against me.”
She further alleges that both EFCC and ICPC have “deliberately refused” to make their findings public because it would give her “100% clean bill of innocence.”
She says she has written to the President, EFCC and ICPC requesting they publish the investigation report, but got no response.
“From the settings and intents, Halima Shehu is being forced into guilt whereas she is substantially innocent in both wholesale and retail,” a statement from her camp reads.
COMPARISON WITH OTHER CASES Her supporters are drawing parallels with two other high-profile cases:
Dr. Betta Edu – Former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation. Suspended in August 2024 over an alleged approval to transfer N585 Million meant for vulnerable groups to a private account. She was also grilled by EFCC. Calls for her reinstatement continue from stakeholders in Cross River State.
Hajia Ngozi Olejeme – Former DG of NSITF, 2009-2015. Arrested by EFCC over alleged theft and fraud of over N1 Billion. Her case is still pending before Justice Nwite at the Federal High Court, Abuja.
Critics note that both Edu and Olejeme have “happily” been named as members of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, while Halima Shehu remains in limbo.
THE LITERARY ANALOGY In a personal note, Halima’s defenders likened her ordeal to Thomas Hardy’s “Tess of the d’Urbervilles” – “an innocent village girl whose history was distorted, hopes raised and dashed, while society looked away as she was convicted in both public opinion and the courts. Despite all, Tess remained innocent. So is Halima Shehu.”
As of press time, EFCC, ICPC and the Presidency had not responded to requests for comments or to publish the investigation report.
NGURU — The Federal Medical Centre, Nguru, Yobe State, has undergone a major transformation between December 2022 and May 2026 under the leadership of its Medical Director, Professor Hadiza Abdullahi Usman, with the institution now pursuing recognition as a Teaching Hospital.
In a review of the Centre’s progress, the administration said it adopted partnerships, technology, and innovation to overcome initial resource constraints and reposition the facility for specialised care.
FINANCIAL TURNAROUND AND REVENUE GROWTH The administration inherited debts exceeding ₦500 million and outstanding staff obligations. Within the first year, the debts and backlogs were cleared.
Revenue generation also increased by nearly 300 per cent, providing more resources for equipment, infrastructure, and staff development.
INFRASTRUCTURE AND CLINICAL EXPANSION The period witnessed extensive construction, renovation, and remodelling. Key projects include:
A state-of-the-art Cytology and Histopathology Laboratory
Conversion of the former dialysis facility into a modern renal complex with 2 theatre suites and a 16-bed renal ward
Ongoing development of an MRI and mammography complex, pharmacy complexes, specialty clinic, oxygen plant, staff accommodation, and car parks
Other projects underway include a Diagnostic Centre, Trauma Centre, Administration Block Phase II, and Pharmacy Complex Phase III.
To address power challenges, the Centre installed solar panels and inverters across critical departments including ICU, Labour Ward, Renal Complex, A&E, and the Administration Block. An additional 100KVA solar installation is ongoing at the MRI complex through an NEDC intervention.
EXPANSION OF CLINICAL SERVICES FMC Nguru expanded specialist care with the establishment of a Mental Health Department, Oncology Unit, and the commencement of laparoscopic surgery. It also introduced Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care and an orthopaedic implant shop.
Major clinical areas renovated include A&E, SCBU, Obstetric Theatre, Labour Ward, Gynaecology Ward, and Paediatric Medical Ward.
A new oxygen plant with pipeline system was also constructed to deliver oxygen directly to bedside, improving emergency response. The
DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION AND HUMAN CAPITAL The Centre moved from paper-based records to Electronic Health Records, achieving 99% implementation since rollout began in March 2023. It also adopted electronic payments and cashless services.
In education, the College of Nursing Sciences received accreditation for ND and HND programmes, admitting 995 students since 2022 and graduating its first cohort of 169 students in 2025.
Human capital investment included sponsorship of 190 staff for training, deployment of 26 doctors for residency training, and employment of 571 permanent staff and 1,062 non-regular staff from 2023 to date.
GROWING PATIENT LOAD AND FUTURE AMBITION FMC Nguru, which started with 50 beds in 1999, now operates over 400 beds. Annual patient turnover rose from 19,000 to 309,364 in 2025. The Centre now serves patients from Yobe, Jigawa, Bauchi, Gombe, and neighboring Niger Republic.
Prof. Usman has identified the conversion of FMC Nguru into a Teaching Hospital as a key objective, with discussions already ongoing with the Federal University of Gashua. Several capital projects were designed with the teaching-hospital model in mind.
The administration credited the progress to teamwork, support from the Federal Ministry of Health, development partners, staff, and community stakeholders.
“The transformation of the past three and a half years is not merely a collection of projects, but an attempt to lay the institutional foundation for the hospital’s next chapter — defined by technology, specialized care, education, sustainability and the ambition to become a teaching hospital,” the statement said.
As the 2027 general elections approach at full speed, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is facing serious challenges. The party has lost members and its popularity has declined. Several aggrieved members and supporters have left, while insecurity, economic hardship, and the high cost of living have eroded public confidence in the APC.
There is also a rift among APC stakeholders across Kaduna State. However, Hon. Sadiq Mamman Lagos — a renowned political strategist and grassroots mobilizer in Kaduna — has made frantic efforts to unify the party.

President Bola Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani should recognize that Sadiq Mamman Lagos is a key asset for the APC’s success in the 2027 general elections in Kaduna State.
With his decades of experience, political influence, grassroots structure, and strategic thinking, the APC stands a strong chance of winning. He has delivered results before, he is doing so now, and he is positioned to do it again.

The Special Adviser on Media to the Kogi State Governor, Ismaila Isah, has commissioned a new secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogaminana, Adavi Local Government Area.
The new APC secretariat located at Inorere in Ogaminana Central Ward is an initiative of the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor to support party administration and activities in the local government area.
Speaking during the ceremony, Isah said the secretariat was aimed at reassuring party members and supporters in Ogaminana Central that they remained a vital part of the APC family and the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.

Kaduna: Hayin Danmani Community Decries Fatal Accidents on Western Bypass, Threatens Protest Over Inaction
Kaduna — Residents of Hayin Danmani, a community along the Nnamdi Azikiwe Western Bypass in Kaduna State, have decried the recurring loss of lives on the highway, threatening to stage a protest and block the road if the government does not take immediate action.
In a joint press statement, the community said many lives have been lost between 2025 and 2026, with most of the victims being residents of Hayin Danmani.
The community lamented the frequent accidents on the bypass, alleging that no concrete measures have been taken by authorities to address the situation.
“Enough is enough. We will not tolerate this anymore. Our people are being killed on the Kaduna Western Bypass, and nothing has been done,” the statement read.
“If this continues, we will not fold our arms while our people are losing their lives. The next line of action is a protest. We will mobilize our community members to come out en masse to protest and block the road until the government does the needful.”
The community cited a recent incident on Tuesday, where a young man identified as Mr. Dauda, reportedly a soldier, was killed after being hit by a trailer. He died instantly.
His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Jigawa State, Malam Umar Namadi (FCA), has officially commissioned the Police Training School project in Gwaram Local Government Area, marking a significant step toward strengthening security infrastructure and creating employment opportunities in the state.
The commissioning ceremony, held on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, was conducted on behalf of the Governor by the Secretary to the State Government, Bala Ibrahim Mamsa, alongside the State Commissioner of Police.

In his closing remarks, the Governor’s representative, Malam Bala Ibrahim Mamsa, reaffirmed the commitment of the Jigawa State Government to providing all necessary support to ensure the swift completion of the project. He emphasized that the Police Training School will not only enhance security capacity in the state but also help reduce unemployment by creating job opportunities for the people.
