YEAR 2022: COMMANDANT’S COMPETITION

“…I am hundred percent plus confident, my team is winning this year’s tournament…”

Those were the overwhelming expectations from Coaches, whose teams are contesting in this year’s Commandant’s Competition at the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil-Kano.

Speaking with Coach Olarewaju Tobi and Coach Isaac Ajik, while Team DIG Zanna M. Ibrahim engaged Team AIG Ahmad Abdurrahman in a Basketball Match at the Nigeria Police Academy Stadium on 1st June, 2022, day – one of the competition, they both expressed optimistism and assurances of winning the tournament in the Male Basketball category.

Umpire Agada Prince Divine, who spoke on behalf of other Officiating Umpires for the Basketball tournament, assured all the contesting teams of fair officiating through out the matches.

The Basketball match for day – one ended with DIG Zanna’ Team leading with 58 points against AIG Abdurrahman Team with 55 points.

Day – two of the Competition, football team of Cadets of 6th Regular Course engaged 8th Regular Course in a football match. 6th Regular Course defeated 8th Regular Course with a very frustrating one goal to nothing.

The Sports Officer, Nigeria Police Academy, ASP Shedrack Aminu Mai Samari, expressed his appreciation to the Commandant, Assistant Inspector General of Police, Ahmad Abdurrahman, psc (+), mni for giving him the opportunity to organize this year’s Commandant’s competition.

He assured the Commandant that, this competition will identify and explore sports talents amongst the Cadets that are capable of making the Academy and by extension, the Nigeria Police Force proud in national and international sports competition.

Finally, he sought for adequate financial budgeting and external intervention to sustain subsequent competition.
