YEAR 2022: COMMANDANT’S COMPETITION

“…I am hundred percent plus confident, my team is winning this year’s tournament…”

Those were the overwhelming expectations from Coaches, whose teams are contesting in this year’s Commandant’s Competition at the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil-Kano.

Speaking with Coach Olarewaju Tobi and Coach Isaac Ajik, while Team DIG Zanna M. Ibrahim engaged Team AIG Ahmad Abdurrahman in a Basketball Match at the Nigeria Police Academy Stadium on 1st June, 2022, day – one of the competition, they both expressed optimistism and assurances of winning the tournament in the Male Basketball category.

Umpire Agada Prince Divine, who spoke on behalf of other Officiating Umpires for the Basketball tournament, assured all the contesting teams of fair officiating through out the matches.

The Basketball match for day – one ended with DIG Zanna’ Team leading with 58 points against AIG Abdurrahman Team with 55 points.

Day – two of the Competition, football team of Cadets of 6th Regular Course engaged 8th Regular Course in a football match. 6th Regular Course defeated 8th Regular Course with a very frustrating one goal to nothing.

The Sports Officer, Nigeria Police Academy, ASP Shedrack Aminu Mai Samari, expressed his appreciation to the Commandant, Assistant Inspector General of Police, Ahmad Abdurrahman, psc (+), mni for giving him the opportunity to organize this year’s Commandant’s competition.

He assured the Commandant that, this competition will identify and explore sports talents amongst the Cadets that are capable of making the Academy and by extension, the Nigeria Police Force proud in national and international sports competition.

Finally, he sought for adequate financial budgeting and external intervention to sustain subsequent competition.

FMC NGURU Boss Bags Media Award

The Medical Director of Federal Medical Centre Nguru, Yobe State, Dr. Abubakar Musa bagged Arewa Media Practitioners Award of Excellence for Humanitarian Services offered to the community and society, and for his unwavering cmmitment to transparency and accountability, as the medical director and Chief Executive of the Centre.

The award was presented to him in his office on Wednesday, to recognize his immense contributions to the well-being of the sick and the community in general.

Presenting the award to the medical director, Comrade Musa Mohammed who is the leader of the delegation and the national president of the Arewa Media Practitioners said, “We don’t just give out awards, we make sure that the recipient have impacted the lives of others, with some testimonies of people, before we give you our award plaque.

For Dr. Abubakar Musa, the people spoke well of him, which motivated us to consider him a recipient of the dynamic leader award.

“We believe that awards should be given to people who positively impact lives and not because of your fat bank account.

There is no other life other than the one that touches others, It is the essence of living and a legacy that must endures for a long time”.

Receiving the award, Dr. Musa said he felt humbled and honoured about the award bestowed on him, saying “it is a form of encouragement and impetus to do more.

“I feel good and excited that we are contiributing something and people are independently acknowledging it.”

He noted that he had actually refused and turned down several awards because lots of them could not say what I did to deserve those awards.

“But the Arewa Media Practitioners has been able to tell us not only what we are doing right, but even gone beyond convincing me of their due diligence” he added.

DELARING THE EVENTS OPEN, THE DEPUTY COMMANDANT, CP EMMANUEL EFFIOM EKOT, WHO REPRESENTED THE COMMANDANT, WARNED THE CADETS TO EXHIBIT HIGH SENSE OF DISCIPLINE AND SPIRIT OF SPORTSMANSHIP DURING AND AFTER THE COMPETITION.

EVENTS MARKING THE OPENING CEREMONY INCLUDE THE MARATHON RACE COMPETITION AMONGST CADETS AND ROUTE MARCH BY BOTH STAFF AND CADETS OF THE ACADEMY.

THE COMPETITION IS AIMED AT FOSTERING THE SPIRIT OF TEAM WORK, UNITY AND SENSE OF SPORTSMANSHIP AMONGST THE CADETS. THE COMPETITION IS EXPECTED TO LAST FOR A WEEK.

KANO UNIVERSITY BOSS BAGS MEDIA AWARD AS “ICON OF HOPE”.

Vice Chancellor Kano University of science and technology Wudil, Bags Arewa Media Practitioners award as Icon of Hope.

The Vice Chancellor Professor Shehu Alhaji Musa was recognized because of his immeasurable achievements in the university.

Presenting the award, the National president of the Arewa Media Practitioners Comrade Musa Mohammed said the award was based on the recommendation of the award selection committee that presented his name for the transformation of the university.

The National President said Prof. Shehu Alhaji Musa has proven that he understands the meaning of Education and the way it works.

He said the Vice Chancellor is in his element as a thorough bred educationist and a true academician.

“The Vice Chancellor displayed high level skills in brinkmanship. Personally, impressed with his style from his first tenure to date”.

“He looks quiet but very deep. He is a fantastic listener, soft spoken and a humble man”.

Responding, the Vice Chancellor, expressed his appreciation and described the award as encouraging and moral booster.

He expressed hope that mutual understanding between the university and the Arewa Media Practitioners will be enhanced.

The Vice Chancellor however, disclosed some of the achievements recorded during his tenure which include accreditation of 21 courses out of 22, building of 4 faculties, signing of MOU on sciences with Egypt, China and Russia universities to a few.

Training and promotion of staff/ lecturers to PhD and masters degree level, purchase of over 250,000 computers for the development of science education.

Prof. Alhaji Musa commended the kano state government for providing adequate support and logistics, in addition to recruiting teachers on sensitive area of the university.

The Vice Chancellor also commended the Chancellor of the kano university of science and technology, Alhaji Aliko Dangote for the giant projects he made so far in the institution.

He said Dangote have done what no other Nigerian has done since 1948 when the first university was founded.

He described Dangote’s generosity as unprecedented, especially his support for education.

“Dangote would forever remain dear to our University” he added.

Provost NPA Wudil AIG AHMAD ABDULRAHMAN BAGS AREWA MEDIA AWARD

The Commandant Nigerian Police Academy Wudil, AIG Ahmad Abdulrahman bags Arewa Media Practitioners award of excellence.

Presenting the award to the Commandant, the leader of Arewa Media Practitioners Comrade Musa Mohammed said the award was in his recognition of the stewardship in past and presently.

“AIG Abdulrahmanhas made so many tremendous achievements in different capacity that he served the Nigeria’s community”.

The president said his ability to stire the administration of the institution attracts the attention of the award selection committee that nominated him.

Responding, the Commandant expressed gratitude and hope the award will further cement relationship between the Nigerian Police Academy and the media.

AIG Abdulrahman appreciates the noble presentation by the Arewa Media Practitioners as laudable, and indeed an encouragement, to justify further the award.
The Commandant believed that the award bestowed on him is significant.

He appealed for peace and unity in the country.

I never authorised the purchase of APC forms by any group – Goodluck Jonathan

Former President, Goodluck Jonathan has denied authorising the purchase of presidential forms for him.

A Northern group on Monday, May 9, purchased the form for Jonathan, insisting he must run for president in 2023. According to the group, Jonathan is the only Nigerian leader who has taken interest in Almajiris as he built schools for them during his tenure.

In a statement signed by his media aide, Ikechukwu Eze, the former President said he was not aware and did not authorise any group to purchase the form.

The statement reads;

“It has come to our notice that a group has purportedly purchased Presidential Nomination and Expression of Interest forms, of the All Progressives Congress APC, in the name of former President Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

We wish to categorically state that Dr. Jonathan was not aware of this bid and did not authorize it.

KADUNA NSCDC COMMANDANT, BAGS AREWA MEDIA AWARD

The State Commandant Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kaduna State Command Dr. Godwin U. Miebih has been honoured with the AREWA MEDIA PRACTITIONERS AWARD, in view of what the organisers of the award described as the enviable massive contribution in community services and Societal development in Nigeria.

The award which was conferred to Dr. Miebih on Monday at the NSCDC Kaduna State Command.

Presenting the award, the National president of Arewa Media Practitioners Comrade Musa Mohammed said that Dr. Miebih in the recent years, have made so many tremendous achievements.

“He is among those who have distinguished themselves in their field of endeavour, the commandant has been recognized by award selection committee as a result of his stewardship, for his hard working and selfless Services over the years”.

“He is a credible man, with high standard and integrity, he have distinguished himself and have in no small way added value to the development of our country”, the national president added.

Responding, Dr. Godwin Miebih expressed his gratitude to the organizers of the awards.

He expressed delight for the award.

BASHIR MAI-UNGUWA BAGS MEDIA AWARD

The Director Administration and General Services Muhammad Abubakar Rimi market limited (Sabon Gari market) Kano, Alhaji Muhammad Bashir Abdul (Mai-Unguwa) has been honoured as the “ICON OF COMMUNITY SERVICES AND SOCIETAL DEVELOPMENT” by Arewa Media Practitioners.

The Director was singled out for his outstanding role and contribution towards development of kano state.

The ceremony held at the Muhammad Abubakar Rimi market limited cooperate office, kano, on Wednesday, the platform, however, urged the Directorto sustain the momentum.

Alhaji Bashir has described the award presented to him by Arewa Media Practitioners as a moral booster and encouraging to the development of kano state.

He expressed appreciation for the award bestowed on him, and called for synergy with Arewa Media Practitioners in the activities of the Kano state government

PROVOST FCAPT BAGS AREWA MEDIA PRACTITIONERS AWARD

The Provost of Federal College of Agriculture Produce Technology Dr. Muhammad Yusha’u Gwaram has outlined some of the lue print of the institution, which is a departure from analog to technology.

The Provost disclosed this while reacting to the award of excellence presented to him by Arewa Media Practitioners in his office in Kano on Tuesday.

Dr. Yusha’u Gwaram said the college will soon start working on tomatoes processing which will take care of the abundant tomatoes in the area, and also provide job opportunities and income to the college.

He said the institution will also provide machine that will process grains harvested in the state and preservations.

The Provost further stated that NBTE has approved certain courses that will soon take-up in the college which will provide opportunities to teaming youth across kano state.

Earlier, the leader of the delegations, Comrade Musa Mohammed said the award bestowed on Dr. Yusha’u Gwaram it’s as result of his significant achievements and his transformation agenda that brought about rapid changes.

PROF. FAGGE BAGS MEDIA AWARD AS MOST OUTSTANDING COLLEGES OF EDUCATION PROVOST IN NIGERIA

The Provost Federal College of Education (Technical) Bichi, kano State, Professor Bashir Muhammad Fagge has described the award presented to him by Arewa Media Practitioners as a moral booster and encouraging to the development of the institution.

The Provost expressed appreciation for the award bestowed on him, and called for synergy with Arewa Media Practitioners in the activities of the college.

Earlier in his speech during the award presentation, the leader of the delegations, Comrade Musa Mohammed said the second tenure in office of College provost was a testimony that he has achieved significantly in all sector of the institution.

“The Federal College of Education Bichi is indeed blessed with a good leader, thriving because a man with a remarkable ability is at the helms of affairs”.

“Prof. Fagge has been able to increase the academic and professional capacity of the College workforce”, he added.
