The award was conferred on Prof. Bichi on Thursday, at Federal University Dutsanma, katsina state.

In his speech, the representative of the foreign press Association, Comrade Abubakar Musa Abubakar said, the vice Chancellor in the recent years, made so many tremendous achievements in the institution .

He said the advisory board of the awards was unanimous in selecting Prof. Bichi for the award because of his sterling performance in the past and present years.

“Selecting Prof. Hamisu Bichi for the award was the least tasking exercise by the Advisory Board of the Awards, as his track records of performance towers above his peers”.

He stated further that Prof. Bichi has in the recent years contributed immensely to the educational development in Nigeria.

Dr. Mohammed Ghazali Director Research and Development of the university who received the award on behalf of the vice Chancellor, expressed his gratitude to the organizers of the awards.

He said, “Iam quite humble by the award bestowed on our leader, considering the category which is one of the best Vice Chancellor in Nigeria.

Since he assumed duty as the Provost of Federal College of Education Technical Bichi on 1st June, 2015, the College has witnessed monumental and unprecedented development in various areas, including academic activities, physical and infrastructural as well as students and staff wellfare.

Between June 2015 to date when Prof. Bashir Muhammad Fagge took over the mantle of leadership as the Provost, the College has witnessed more infrastructural development.

Investigation conducted by teaming journalists has shown that significant achievements have been achieved in under the present administration of Prof. Fagge.

A team of journalists concerned with the development of education particularly in the North visited the institute in Bichi Kano state, were they assess the achievements made so far under the able leadership of Prof. Fagge.

It is however good to point out right here the secret behind the accomplishments. On assuming duty he began by appreciating the efforts and contributions of his predecessors who laid the foundation stone of the institution.

This he did by thorough study of the available records at his disposal and physical inspection of existant policies, programs and structures in the College. That gave him full insight and sense of direction of how to move the College another level of development. It was from there he identified the most important and urgent needs of the College.

These according to the Provost included the need to have the College Programmes accredited by the regulatory body i.e National Commision for Colleges of Education (NCCE, Abuja), expansion of Academic Programs ie opening more departments and above all ensuring that the College (having spent twenty years in existence) start running Degree programs in affiliation with nearby neighboring Universities and thirdly improving the condition of service by devising more ways of improving good working relationship and welfare of the entire members of staff.

To be specific, it is good to note that the giant effort and proper consultation with relevant authorities put in place by the Provost had attracted the attention of the Federal Government where by always approved the release of funds which cover the demand of the Accreditation Exercise, projects (infrastructural development) etc.

In his bid to entrench transperent, responsive and all inclusive administration in the College, the Provost operates open-door policy with listening ears where he listenes and respects other people’s opinions through various forms of meetings.

In the early days of his assumption of duty he conducted series of meetings first with his Principal Officers, members of the Expanded Management Committee, Academic Board, Executive Members of the three Unions in the College, joint meeting of both Academic and non-teaching members of staff and finally the Students Union Government.

In a related development, the Provost maintains and established more committees that attract the membership of both teaching and non-teaching members of staff with a view to ensuring that more hands are involved in running the affairs of the College which creates the spirit of sense of belonging among the College Cummunity.

It is not an over statement to state that, with the aforementioned good leadership style of Prof. Bashir Muhammad Fagge, limited space like this may not adequately guarantee opportunity to outline of his achievements here.

Also, our investigation revealed that the Provost stand firm during security challenges and attracted TETFUND projects to the College and prompt payment of worker’s salaries in the past among other achievements.

The visiting Journalists investigation revealed that the college under Prof. Fagge stewardship have e-library, laboratories, the management increased the number of academic staff from 250 to about 750, and students who graduated were trained with skill acquisition to the level that when they graduate they can be self employed.

Also, When Prof. Fagge came onboad as the Provost of the institution, there were only six lecturers with PhD, but today they have over 200.

The same thing with the infrastructures, there was no single building has not been renovated in the college, and built a new permanent site with five new schools which will be commissioned soon.

The national board for Arabic and Islamic Studies has released the 2020 Senior Arabic and Islamic secondary School Certificate Examination results.

Acting Registrar of the Board, Professor Muhammad Shafi’u Abdullahi who briefed newsmen at the head office of the board on Thursday, revealed that a total of 39,614 candidates from 24 states and FCT sat for the examination out of which 26, 368 were male candidates while 13, 246 were female candidates.

Analysis of the subjects show that 4,652 candidates attempted science subjects, 32,228 attempted arts, while 2,734 took tahfeez.

Professor Abdullahi revealed that biology topped other subjects with 96.71% of pass followed by physics with 92.18% with 88.84% in chemistry, 80.25% in english, 79.31% in mathematics, 78.91% in Islamic studies and 78.29% in Arabic language.

The acting Registrar commended stakeholders who ensured the successful conduct of the examination in the wake of the ravaging corona virus pandemic in parts of the country.

The investigative reporting conducted by the journalists, has shown that one of the gigantic achievements recorded was producing highly disciplined, hardworking and God conscious staffs

This no doubt will help in meeting up the demand of quality education in all northern states and Nigeria at large.

For an institution of this magnitude to achieve the required success staffing is vital to this situation.

Similarly, investigation has shown that the board has sponsors many staff to further their education.

Additional commitment was made by the leadership of the board engaged sponsorship in training, conferences, and workshops with a view to boost academic excellence, whereby all
staffs enjoyed, and Integration of Tsangaya and Islamiyya schools to Western Education.

A national workshop is being organized by the board across the country’s zonal structure to bring together Alarammas and Tsangaya tutors for the integration program.

The leadership of the institute engaged in regular promotion of staff.

Further investigation conducted by the visiting journalists, discovered that many projects were executed by the present leadership of the board.

Few are infrastructural developments which include completion the building of the Tsangaya headquarters that can accommodate well over 300 staff.
The board has also equipped it’s ICT Centre with the required facilities for ease and speedy dispensation of it’s day to day operation. This is in addition of employing staff with requisite qualification.

The visiting journalists haven assessed these gigantic achievements called on the federal government to partner seriously with the present leadership in the institution, because of it’s beautiful and transforming programmes that deserves commendation
