There’s lot can of worms (sleaze dossier).

Zamfara West Stakeholders Seek Recall of Senator Lawal Anka image

The people of western senatorial district of Zamfara State to recall their senator, Lawal Anka, (Bench-warmer) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the Senate.

A group known as Zamfara West Stakeholders has petitioned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as a move to recall Senator Lawal Hassan Anka for allegedly abandoning them during the raging COVID-19 pandemic.

The group in a statement issued yesterday said it signaled the intention of the people of western senatorial district of Zamfara State to recall their senator, Lawal Anka, (Bench-warmer) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the Senate because they cannot feel his presence mostly when needed.

The group in its letter of intent to INEC on the planned recall, which was signed by Malam Idris Mohammad Mafara, accused the senator of alleged abdication and dereliction of his duties, leaving the district with no representation at the Senate alleging that, “he has abandoned the people over the years, especially at this period when every representative of the people is with their people helping them to battle the effect of COVID – 19.”

The stakeholders in the statement said: “The ‘no love lost’ relationship between Senator Anka and his people is something that may have started from when he first won the senatorial election in 2019 to represent the people, as he was said to have neglected his people .
“Tired of enduring the untold hardship his representation has brought to the people, we decided to move against the Senator who took over from Senator Ahmad Sani Yarima in 2019.”

“Since his re-election to the Senate in 2019, Senator Anka has completely abandoned and abdicated his role as a representative of his area. He had since his last term completely moved his entire family from Zamfara to Abuja, our senator shuttles between Kaduna and Abuja.”

What is even more painful, according to the group, is that: “During this nationwide lockdown when representatives of various constituents have spent time with their people or reached out to their constituents with palliatives, our senator has never bothered to come to Zamfara or reach out to us his constituents.”

“Instead of helping people who are loosing everything, as an elected official he’s too busy trying to fund pet projects and special interest groups with our tax money”.

The group also accused him of causing disaffection and division within the party at both the local and state levels, saying he has taken over the party’s structure.

“Its past time for us to clean him out of the house of senate and save our constituency”.

“We are, after all, Zamfara West Senatorial District”.

“We will sign on the recall proposal and petition which will be send to INEC
All the polling units (stations) will be issue with a copy and those eligible to vote will put on their signatures”, he lamented.

Recall Proposal and Petition for the Removal of the Hon. Samaila Suleman, member house of representative, presenting Kaduna north federal constituency from Office

By Comrade Musa Mohammed
08038895334, 08026268303, 08073611331, 08073747117Our elected official, member in the National Assembly, Representing Kaduna north federal Constituency, HON. SAMAILA SULEMAN have become grossly negligent in doing his job, which is suppose to be representing the KADUNA NORTH people.During a pandemic and economic downturn instead of helping people who are loosing everything, as an elected official he’s too busy trying to fund pet projects and special interest groups with our tax money.
Its past time for us to clean out of the house and save our constituency .“It is truly hard to know what to say, beyond uttering something like “fools” when forming a thought about our representatives in the House, Senate, house of representatives and state House of Assembly’s who are all, of course, fools.
Aside from the interesting statistic that for the first time in history the aggregate IQ of the House of Reps and Senate equals the exact number of members in the National Assembly, there isn’t a single element of the government shutdown that doesn’t have you pulling your hair out in frustration or hiding under the bed out of fear. With a government operating like this, who needs third party terrorist threats?
You could hear Nigeria groan as the news broke on the first of the month. A chorus of “fools” swelled from breakfast tables to commuter trains as we all dropped our heads into our hands and bemoaned this most recent political obscenity.
But as I eavesdropped on fellow riders on the ever luxurious cars commute into the Villa in Abuja, National Assembly etc, I began to realize with a sort of chill, that this chorus of “fools” was anything but a chorus. Behind every “fool” there was a “they.” And “they” were definitely divided between an “us” and a “them.” As it turned out, I was witnessing the only true byproduct of our government these days – a rift fanned with uncertainty and fear and a nation divided by hyperbole. Our politicians and political parties (an ironic name when you think about it) have polarized us and themselves to such an extent that nothing can get done outside of pumping up the rhetoric to a level that drowns out even he remotest whimper of reason. MUSLIM, CHRISTIAN, PAGAN etc . Dare to take the middle ground, and you will be branded by both sides as an extremist.
At the risk of presenting a thought we can all violently agree on, I do not have a great political mind. Defining my political acumen as “good” might actually be a stretch. And quite frankly, anyone can and practically everyone has expressed some version of what I led with – that our Representatives are fools. It’s easy, cathartic and safe. It accomplishes nothing.
And that’s when it hit me. There is a distinct possibility that we are the fools.
I mean, how stupid can they be? Our representatives lavish in positions of great wealth and influence. Despite a government shutdown, which many/most of them must want, they are still being paid and are catered to by enormous loyal civil servants and pensioners that are not being paid. They have the best health care plans in the world. As a unit they get nothing done. They have substituted “role models” with “poll models.” And they all have us in a lather, blathering about the ineptitude of our government in general, while somehow buoying up their individual positions as blameless, the single voices of reason in a sea of fools. Fund me, blog for me, tweet your support, rally your friends so we can protect us and beat back them, who unchecked will destroy the universe as we know it.
Well, as the elected members frenetically entrench themselves, cast blame and call for reinforcements, I’m suggesting all of us, KADUNA NORTH FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY regardless of our affiliations – put the vitriol on hold and take a bold and quiet step into the center. We firmly demand “HON. SAMAILA SULEMAN TO QUIET”We are, after all, Kaduna North Federal constituency.
We will sign on the recall proposal and petition which will be send to INEC
All the polling units (stations) across the 12 words will be issue with a copy and those eligible to vote will put on their signatures.

ABU yet to comply with ministerial directives on Zaria NBAIS office Closure.

Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria was yet to comply with the directives of the Minister of Education on the closure of National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS) six days after minister’s directives
it would be recall that on September 4, Malam Auwalu Umar, Acting Director, Public Affairs Division of the university in statement said the University will comply with the directives of the minister.

When contacted, the Ag. Director, Umar, said the Annex would be handed over to the Board by Tuesday or Wednesday this week when documents and other office items belonging to the Institute of Education were finally evacuated.
According to him, the matter had since been resolved following the intervention of the Minister of Education.

He also said relevant staff of the Board were in contact with the Director, Institute of Education regarding the re-opening of the Annex.

However, some members of the management team of the Board were at Zaria operations office located at Gaskiya Layout Tudun Wada Zaria to take inventory of the office equipment in preparation for the forthcoming National Examination of the board.

The team were denied access to the premises by the ABU Security guarding the premises.

The acting registrar of the board Prof Mohammed-Shafi’u Abdullahi told newsmen that they were at the centre to take inventory of the equipment in preparation for the forthcoming examination slated for September 26.

He added that the minister in a letter reference number ADF/HRM/C.1/12 dated Aug. 31 directed the Vice Chancellor to grant extension for the board use the premises up to the end of October in view of the examination scheduled from Sept. 23.
Abdullahi said that on August 18th, he was informed of alleged plan to attack Zaria Operation Centre of the Board, adding that he alerted the security division of the Board on the allegations.

“I was later informed that at about 2:15 a.m. our security men were alledgedly over powered, pushed out of the premises and keys of the offices were collected from them by ABU security personnel.

“I was also informed that some of the office equipment, computers and other sensitive documents were allegedly removed and thrown out of the offices. The Centre is now under lock and key,” he said
Also recalls that on Aug. 28, 2020 the university issued a statement saying that it has taken back from the National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS) its property at Institute of Education Annex in Tudun Wada, Zaria used over the years as the board’s temporary headquarters.

The statement said the decision to reclaim the property was partly informed by the severe inadequacy of teaching and learning facilities as a result of the ever increasing number of students experienced in the University.

The statement added that the University was desirous of recovering all its property and putting it to good use for its overall sustainability.

“It should also be noted that the NBAIS was given sufficient notice of ABU’s intention to recover its property.

“This was communicated to the Acting Registrar of NBAIS, in a letter dated May 18, 2020.
“The notice expired on the 18th of August, 2020, and ABU promptly took possession of the property. Some units of the institution in dire need of the facility have already been accommodated,” the statement said.

Between ABU, NBAIS who’s is behind it. By Muhammad Tukur

The face off over right of occupancy between two sister organizations of the Ministry of Education may not be out of the I go usual happentance in the general context of the Government of the day in Nigeria. The scandalous acts attending the bitter struggle for property control between Africa’s largest university, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria ( ABU, Zaria) and its own very creation, National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS), is shocking to people’s sense of propriety despite its similarity with other inter and intra ministerial bouts of intransigence. The fact that these institutions are centres of the education industry is what agitate the mind of Nigerians on hearing the violent in fighting.

The two educational institutions are complementary in their functions in building a good society through development of the mind and heart of citizens via the process of education. Disorder and violence erupting from such supposedly hallowed institutions would certainly be most disturbing.

I first read about this open fight for supremacy in the Newspapers before I kept tab on sources up close the two main actors in both the institutions. It is established that the Vice Chancellor of Ahamadu Bello University requested the services of Nigeria Police operatives to storm the premises occupied as Exams Centre by NBAIS in Gaskiya Area in Zaria Local Givernment of Kaduna State. As reported, the police forcibly ejected the internal security men of NBAIS and took over the place on behalf of ABU, Zaria. This alleged police action took place late in the night. By the time I arrived at the scene of the nocturnal and unequal skirmish the dust had settled and ABU armed invitees were in firm control of the place, locked and barred. I was only able to witness the scourged gate of the disputed place with the previously emblozoned name of NBAIS torn off and effaced. From the gate the physical desruction and the presence of stern looking policemen described a place abnormally disturbed.

It is my belief nothing happened of such nature sponteneously. It must have been a climax of a long smoldering misundertanding. My guess is as good as yours! Further inquiry revealed a deeper eddies that led to the final crest of show of force. I may not go into details of the patently personal issues at stake. Suffice it to say that ABU Zaria is a home of rival factions of cross interests. The current VC was said to have been a victim in the last dispensation where by he had lost his DVC Academics position. As events took their turns, he now wound up now as the VC. It was observed that the VC, cum former DVC academics, immediately on ascending the number one seat in the university, started paying the former VC”s team players back by divesting them of all administrative positions and responsibilities. Analysts with intimate knowledge of the raging cold war in Africa’s academic amazon averred that the Acting Registrar of NBAIS, who is also an academic employee of the University, has good understanding with the former VC. It is hence contended that this made the NBAIS acting helmsman a target and his now independent institution a victim by association. This violent gesture enacted by theABU management has caused quite a damage to goods and utility belonging to NBAIS as well as sent a jiggering effects across Nigeria. Not less than six major national dailies carried the institutional showdown.

I have got a previlleged information that the Acting Registrar of NBAIS, Prof. Shafi’u Muhammed, had remostrated with the Minister of Education who, in response, ostensibly deviced a molifying settlement and called for damage control. Hitherto, ABU Zaria had justified its punitive action by hinting at the avowed fact that it had given NBAIS long enough quit notice, but NBAIS chosez to dally depite having its own new site that was more than adquate for its needs.

This unsaluburious development is not without its tangible and intangible tolls on the two institutions slugging it out over space, as well as on the Ministry of Education itself. Firstly, resources might have been wasted as a result of the office materials and pieces of furtuniture said to have been catapaulted out by the rampaging police on the request of the VC. A huge amount of tax payers money have gone the drain.

The loss of reputation by the institutions, and by extention the Ministry of Education, and the shaken confidence of Nigerians are incalculable. The untoward debacle has registered a negetive perception that internal politics and personal interest are ruining the smooth and conscientious management of public trust in terms of both utilization and application of human and material resources.

Furthermore, the revelation that at a certain stage the Minister had waded into the wrangling, but his intervention had failed to dissipate the storm until it reached the current crescendo, badly impacted on the public perception of the Minister’s ability to excercise lawful authority in the enforcement of discipline. Already, there are confirmed tales of the Minister’s weakness to punish unruly and corrupt administrators under him. The Minister seems to have confered immunity status to some of the managers of Nigeria’s institutions of learning. Predictably, the reported act of violence and arson committed by ABU Zaria VC, as reported by the media, would be left uncensored without even so much a reprimand or a public comment to reassure Nigerians and rebuild their waning confidence by the Minister.

ABU guards removed all logo bearing NBAIS around the premises as well as Bill Board, I am afraid the students examinations records are likely to get lost following the vandalization of the properties“

The Registrar of the NBAIS, Prof. Muhammad Shafi`u Abdullahi had alleged that security men from ABU with armed Mobile Police stormed NBAIS Centre on Wednesday around 2am , forced all Guardsmen out of the premises and re- locked all offices.

Prof. Abdullahi said the action by ABU was counterproductive as over 40, 000 candidates who registered with NBAIS for the Senior Secondary School Examinations, would be affected.

While briefing journalists over the development in Zaria, Prof. Shafiu Abdullahi of NBAIS claimed more than 50 armed security men stormed the examination Centre of the National Board For Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS) located at Gaskiya road in Zaria, kaduna state, chased out all the guards , vandalized properties and lockdown the Centre.

The National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies NBAIS was created as a National Examination Body by the federal government in 2016 and has over 1,140 registered Schools in 23 states of the federation.

Abdullahi said report that reached him on revealed that security men of Ahmadu Bello University with armed Mobile Police stormed the Centre on Wednesday around 2am, forced all Guardsmen out of the premises and re- locked all offices.

“Then securities returned to the Centre around 9 am and took out official properties from offices and dumped them outside including furniture’s , examination materials ,Computers, examination results and important files.’

“They also removed all logo bearing NBAIS around the premises as well as Bill Board, I am afraid the students examinations records are likely to get lost following the vandalization of the properties“

“It is sad, the situation was unwarranted at this crucial time when federal government has slated senior school Examinations to next month, there shouldn`t be any reason for government agency fighting another“.

He said he had reported the invasion to the Minister of education, Chairman local government and Zaria Area Commander of the Police.

“Honestly, with this action, only God knows what will happen to more than 40, 000 candidates who registered with the Board for Next Month Senior Secondary School Examinations, “he said.

Abdullahi alleged that ABU intentionally invaded the centre to create confusion and distraction on the activities of the Board.

NBAIS, he said, was a brain child of the A.B.U since the 1960s and has been under the supervision of the University`s Institute of Education until federal government took over in 2016.

According to him, the contentious site was provided by the University to serve as its temporary secretariat for an unspecified period, but they converted it to examination operations Centre after the Board moved to its permanent site in kaduna.“

“We have followed all procedures for acquiring the place and rules have been formalized to ensure effective operations,“

“The board had made all effort meet the present vice chancellor and discuss some issues about the place but it appears he was not ready for the meeting.”

“At a point ,we have applied for the constructions of a Printing Press in the premises and the management of the University has granted that permission, this was contained in our letter to the Vice chancellor dated 1`st April , 2019 with ref: PP&MS/DC/02/19“.

“We have received their letter that they want to take over the place and we replied them based on the agreement reached with the former management of the University but they ignored and came to destabilized our Examination arrangement“.

“Now I don`t know the fate of our examinations as most materials including data are locked down and vandalized“.

“Since the University is not interested to host the Examination Operation in Zaria, the Board may have to look for the possibility to relocate the Centre to another state.”

` More than 200 staff will loss their job in the Board if we move the Centre to another state,” he said.

The present administration under President Muhammadu Buhari must rapidly come up with solution, to immediately sack Dr. Igweh as the The Director General of NITR.
Also, a committee should be constituted and send to the NITR in kaduna to come and verify all what we stayed.
